- On 16-17 November, the 4th European AI Alliance Assembly was held at La Casa America in Madrid.
- There is a need to establish ethical standards and build trust in AI, objectives that are aligned with the LivAI project.
November 22nd, 2023, Brussels. On 16-17 November, Madrid became the setting for the 4th Annual Assembly of the European AI Alliance, co-organised by the European Commission together with the Spanish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, in the frame of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU. Topics such as establishing ethical standards and building trust in AI were discussed and are related to the objectives of the LivAI project.
The important challenge addressed by the LivAI project focuses on how technology and data should be approached from an ethical perspective, within a certification framework that guarantees standards for any kind of learning and work. This project provides knowledge, skills, and a certification framework that will standardise the competences gained, which is a small but significant progress towards improving quality assurance in adult education.
This year’s Assembly brought together leading experts, researchers and industry leaders in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) from across Europe to contribute to shaping Europe’s Artificial Intelligence policy related to Trustworthy AI. It marked another important milestone in the implementation of the European AI Strategy with the European AI Regulation moving towards its adoption.
In parallel, and as notable policy and legislative initiatives emerged on the international scene, the event provided the opportunity to discuss efforts such as the forthcoming Council of Europe Convention on AI, as well as other crucial bilateral and multilateral partnerships in which the EU is actively engaged.
What is the AI Strategy?
Since June 2018, the European Commission is engaged in an open dialogue with citizens, civil society, business and consumer organisations, trade unions, academia, public authorities and experts, within the framework of its AI Strategy. This Strategy aims at making the most of the opportunities offered by AI and at addressing the new challenges that it brings.
